Weekend Fun ( And the ones I miss)

Lots of pictures of my friends today! I miss them SO much!

Friday:

Friday was such a fun day at work! We had the wedding party that we had pulled dresses for earlier this week come in and try all the things we had pulled for them. There was five in the bridal party and then the bride. They where all such diverse girls but they all had something in common...acting. They spent their time talking about scripts and castings and movie openings. So cool and then they started talking about the rehearsal dinner! They are taking an open air bus around downtown L.A. and Hollywood to all kinds of famous landmarks and they are going to stop at each place and do like drinks at one place, appetizers at one, dinner at one, so on and so on. It sounded so cool. I want to be invited to this wedding! haha So Friday was a really fun day!

Saturday:

Saturday was kind of a wash out...literally. It rained alllll day. We where going to go to Descanso Gardens which is a big walk through of flowers and animals and stuff but by the time we got down there is was raining pretty steady so we just had lunch and of course shopped a little bit! We also had Daniel with us who is just now three so he kept us busy also. He lost his batman toy along the way and boy did we have a meltdown... so lesson learned always have a back up batman =)

Sunday:

Today we started the day by going to church. I was raised Catholic but the church my aunt attends is a non denominational. For the past weeks they have been talking about other types of religions ( Muslim, Islam, Christianity, Scientology, etc.) Today the lesson was on Catholicism...so I was ready for a fight because a lot of times the Catholic faith is slammed, but to my surprise he did a sermon on things the we can learn from the Catholic church! Now I am on of those girls who doesn't like a fight...especially if it comes to politics and religion. Don't get me wrong Ill stand up for religion on any day I just don't like when people have bad things to say about others choice of religion. My motto is sort of to each his own. I think as long as you know are a christian, believe in God and know that Jesus is the son of God then where or how you worship is your choice. Some people don't feel this way at all and that's fine I just don't think you should be judging the way someone chooses to worship...be proud they are worshiping and that they know God and spend your time praising not judging. I think that everyone should take a little time to explore all types of religions and see where they came from and how they started. The history fascinates me that and I think its amazing Roman Catholicism was one of if not the original church. In his sermon the pastor said that we Christians as a hole can learn three things from Catholicism 1. How Catholicism values the Bible...meaning (and I learned this today) that the original Roman Catholics preserved the Bible in its original word...nothing was changed and at one point some even lost their lives trying to protect that original word...very cool 2. The Catholic Church's value the sanctity of human life and 3. The Catholic Church's reverence in worship. So what I learned as that while we all have our own religious choices we should take into account all the others (Baptist, Protestant, Assembly of God, Church of Christ, etc.) before we jump to conclusions on how they do things or what they are all about. " We are not the only Christians but we are Christians only"...think about it! Have a great day!

Santa Barbara

I got to spend the day in Santa Barbara today...its beautiful!

First Day Jitters

Yesterday was my first day at my internship! I left the house around 8:15 to begin my day! California is known as a hands free state meaning that you can not talk on your cell phone while driving unless you have one of those ear piece things (which I up until now always kind of made fun of people wearing those...now I am one of those people). So I driving along not even to the interstate yet and in typical Kelsey fashion I dropped the ear piece in my morning Dr.Pepper drink...so that's how my day started! Traffic wasn't to bad so when I got down town I had just enough time to park, organize my things, and head up to the 9th floor to the showroom! As I walked into the showroom a very bouncy Dave greated me. He began to show me around the showroom and work area as he calls the second room attached to the main showroom. The work area was something I would love to play in one day when he is gone. It consists of a large desk and all around are just boxes and containers full of fabric, trim, notations, buttons, etc. It was cool. So we began the day by making a To Do List ( I loooove to do lists). This list included pulling items for a designer and a wedding party that we have appointments for later this week! We also did random things such as organizing and tagging items...basic up keep things. For school purposes I have to have a "project" and so we discussed that I put together a fashion show down in Orange County. This Company does fashion shows and trunk shows alot but they have a large client basis in Orange County which is a bit of a drive so some people and vendors thought it would be nice to put a show together down there they just have not had time to do this so that's where I come in! I'm super excited to plan this show I think its going to be awesome. I will also get to attend some shows while I am here that are for stylists to come and pick out things for their clients. Next on our agenda for the day was to pull clothing for the AMC show Mad Men. This show has won a total of 38 Emmy's I believe and we do the wardrobe for it. If you are not familiar with the show it is set back in the 1930's and progresses forward over the years. So pulling clothing for various characters was really cool! So all in all my day was long but very exciting! I'm so blessed to be able to have this chance to do this! No pictures for today but soon! Have a wonderful day!

Friends and Family

From left to right: Christine, E-dubb, Steph, Callie, and Me I have the best friends anyone could ask for! This was one of my last weekend nights in Fayetteville and Callie planned for all of us to go to dinner...without my knowledge. Everyone was cancelling on me and I thought I had no friends haha but they where all there in the end! These girls have become my family over the past year and a half. Some of us have been friends for years...some of us where instant friends and now we find it hard to live without =) Your friends can never be replaced and these girls are the staples in my life and always will be no matter how far away I am...but with that said for the time being these ladies have been replaced by seven little boys to be exact(the top picture)...there are only five in the picture but you get the idea. Its so fun to get to spend time with this part of my family because since I was young we have been coming to Cali every year sometimes twice a year to see family but you only get to stay for a week or two at a time! So, I am getting the chance to do things like play basketball and football in the back yard, and go to Magic Mountain and Disney all the good stuff in life haha so your friends are your family and your family are def your friends and they keep your days bright whether its by pictures and memories or a four year old singing your best friends favorite song at the dinner table! Have a blessed day!

She lives in L.A.

Friday was my first official day in California! We went down town to see where exactly I was going to be working! I am located in the garment district in the Fashion building which happens to be only about two blocks from FIDM (Fashion institute of design and merchandising) which is not only one of my dream schools but for those of you who watch the Hills its where LC went to school! On the other side of where I work in the rest of the fashion/garment district. This was heaven for me! Its just rows and rows and blocks and block of clothes, shoes, purses, and fabric! Then on the backside of where I work is the flower district...amazing. Once again just blocks and blocks of fresh flowers...beautiful flowers. Where I am is totally up my alley..I love it already! Also located about a block from my showroom is the California Market Center. This is where alot of designers have their show rooms. This is also where they have sample sales and I will be getting in trouble! The last Friday of each month is sale day and you get to go buy samples...for example a purse that I love that will be in Macy's is $400 but there it will be $130...So excited!! I'm so glad to be here and being able to experience this and I'm having a wonderful time with my family but that will be a post all in itself! have a good day! oh...and i miss my Friends like CRAZY! Love y'all
